When a candidate drops out, the first questions out of the mouth of almost every pundit is, "where will his/her supporters go now?" Its a worthy question, but personally, even if Dean does drop out on Thursday, my support isn't shifting to anyone.
I see no substantive policy differences between Kerry and Edwards. I see little differences in fundraising tactics. I see no reason to believe that one is more electable than the other. If elected, I imagine no real differences in their abilities to pass the legislation they propose (even when there are differences on this front, more often than not I would rather the legislation not pass). I can forsee little differences in their ability to help the party down ticket. In short, I see almost no reason to support one over the other.
Thus, I will not be voting for either candidate, donating to either candidate, or volunteering to either canidate. I am going to sit this one out, and let nature run its course. I have several union campaigns to work on, and hpoefully Barack Obama will win the IL Dem primary (even though, as a resident of PA, I can't vote). Perhaps later on in the year I can volunteer for Obama, as well as a few legislature races, before holding my nose and voting for Kerry / Edwards.
When it comes to politics, I am anything but apathetic. However, when it comes to Kerry and Edwards, I just don't care. After Lieberman, they were my least favorite candidates.
Anyone else feel the same way? Anyone out there want to tell me why I am misguided?
Take the poll. I have to get back to work.
