...A lot of people have been talking about new ideas for a "
Reform Democrat" agenda. Usually the best concepts are ones that takes pieces of your opponents ideas makes them your own. So that gave me the idea of
"what if" we took the Republican idea of School Vouchers & brought it to
Health Care.
Republicans LOVE LOVE LOVE school vouchers. Why not have a plan where the federal government sends out "health-vouchers" for citizens to purchase health-insurance?
- It would take away the argument that Democrats want "a big-government plan that would control who's your doctor", since it's a market-based solution.
- By means-testing & making it voluntary, people wouldn't fear loosing their present coverage, if they were satisfied with what they already had.
- Insurance lobbyists would love it, since their companies are making money from the vouchers.
- We wouldn't be defunding anything, like vouchers do with the education system.
This would be a plan where the Federal Government would send money to citizens to buy Health Insurance & covers the un-insured, & while dodging many of the Republican traps...
