It seems that every single vote the past three months having something to do with Alaska, Stevens has threatened to quit the Senate if the vote didn't go his way. It's happened with several early votes on drilling in ANWR, as well as the vote to defund the Bridge to Nowhere.
Apparently, he made the threat last night as well, but it didn't work this time. The Senate killed efforts to open up ANWR to drilling.
So Stevens said:
"I say goodbye to the Senate tonight."
Dare we hope that he'll stick to his word and resign or retire?
