You have to see these ads for yourself, because nothing I write could possibly come close to how bad they are. If I didn't know better I would swear these ads were from SNL.
Think Progress has both ads on their site, click below to view them
We give off Carbon Dioxide
These ads have been produced by Competitive Enterprise Institute, an organization that is nothing more then a front group for the oil companies.

The "Global Warming is a lie" ad seeks to state that there is NO global warming going on, and to prove their point uses a study that actually shows there is global warming going on, from the Think Progress link:
The second ad repeats the "carbon dixoide is our friend" theme but adds a new wrinkle. It attempts to show that the scientific evidence for global warming is in dispute, claiming a study found "Greenland's glaciers are growing." (Watch the second ad HERE)
Actually, the study (by Johanessen et al.) found that there was an increase in snow accumulation on Greenland's interior. Meanwhile, other studies show that glaciers are thinning on Greenland's coastal regions. This is exactly what you'd expect as the earth gets warmer. The climate scientists at realclimate.org explain:
However, Johanessen et al. were not able to measure all of the coastal ranges. Indeed, the thinning of the margins and growth in the interior Greenland is an expected response to increased temperatures and more precipitation in a warmer climate. These results present no contradiction to the accelerated sliding near the coasts
Expect more of this kind of deception from the right as An Inconvient Truth hits theaters on May 24.
Today one of the top news stories is the typhon that is hitting China. Just a few weeks ago Australia was hit by some of the most powerful typhons they have ever seen. New England is experiencing the worst flooding they have had in over 80 years. No, none of this abnormal, extreme weather has anything to do with "global warming," rather these types of events are just, well "normal." Sure.
Oh, and April 2006 was the WARMEST on record in the U.S:
For the 48 contiguous states the average temperature was 4.5 degrees Fahrenheit above normal for the month, the National Climatic Data Center reported Tuesday.
That made it the nation's warmest April since record keeping began in 1895. The previous April record was 1981.
Clearly with the unchecked profits the oil companies are raking in, the pain we are all feeling in our budgets, Gore's movie is going to put many people over the top. What happens when people finally say "enough?" They elect Democrats, and truthfully if the oil companies just keep making ads like the ones I linked to, our job is all that much easier.
Here is a listings of where and when "An Inconvenient Truth" will be playing, I intend to go see it as soon as possible.
