I've done a search and haven't seen any references to this, but if this is a duplicate let me know and I'll delete. I just read
Friendly Fire Ambush at commondreams.org, and I was unexpectedly shocked by it.
Apparently, the army determined that American soldiers were killed two years ago by Iraqi soldiers they were training, for a bounty of about $100 per American. It took the army almost a year to report this to the soldiers' families, and I have to admit that I hadn't heard about this before today. I'm a fairly regular lurker here, and I've never run into anything about this. Is this common knowledge? Shouldn't it be?
Every day brings news that makes me cycle between anger and despair, with this particular bit sending the pendulum way over to the despair side. I should probably have more substance to make this a worthwhile diary, but I just wanted to call attention to this if it's not already common knowledge.
