I'm sure everyone around here right now saw the White House Correspondents dinner, right? Well Wanda Sykes took some HARD hits to the Republicans, and now the Republicans are whining about it all over Twitter and the Tee Vee Machine. These fools are talking about doing a "tea party" for her. That is how we know she hit a nerve.
Not only did Wanda Sykes call out Cheney and Co. for defending torture (likening it to her robbing a bank, but telling the judge she shouldn't be prosecuted because she used the money to pay bills and it balanced, right?)
She called out Palin for abstinence only (saying pulling out at the last minute is NOT abstinence)
And I think she went the hardest on Rush Limbaugh who is more likely than not going to use his show on Monday to personally attack her in every way possible (as if she'd care) stating that he was really the 20th hijacker, but he missed his flight because he was strung out on Oxycontin.
What I don't get is, how can a group of people who so thoroughly destroyed the country, be so damn sensitive about a few jokes? And I think she kept it pretty PC, if she was on HBO or in a comedy club, she would have gone after them even HARDER than she did. I'm sure she didn't have enough time to say all of the things that she wanted to say.
"Some people" say she went over the top, I say she merely said out loud what a LOT of the country has thought/is thinking.
Check out the Twitter feed to see the heads exploding in real time, Wanda is a trending topic right now, so she must have really hit some nerves.
Then you have President Obama, who wasn't really hard hitting at all, but he definitely gave the right wing hacks more reason to try to attack him for dumb stuff like the mustard he uses on his hamburgers (The Huff Post has the vid of him ragging on Michael Steele ~lol~). He was genuinely funny, and charming. Even Pat Buchanan (who's probably still reeling over the fact that Obama is the President) loved his performance.
So all in all, tonight was not a good night for the right wing.
Update: Here's what she said about Rush h/t GOTV:
"You've had your fair share of critics. ... Rush Limbaugh said this administration fails. ... He just wants the country to fail. To me that's treason. He's not saying anything different than what Osama Bin Laden is saying. You might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight. ... Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs."
Here's video of her performance:

Update: I totally saw this coming:
Wanda Sykes isn't killing but she's getting some laughs -- and Obama was yukking it up until Sykes muttered the word "abstinence" and "Palin" in the same joke.
He was back laughing when Sykes slammed Rush -- and hard -- for the hoping-Obama-will fail stuff.
CSPAN was trained on the president when Sykes joked that Limbaugh was the "I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th [Sept. 11th] hijacker, but he was so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight."
Obama was chuckling -- while saying something to his dais mates -- and couldn't quite stop smiling even as he sipped some water.
She finished her Rush bit with: "l hope this country fails?" I hope his kidney fails!"
He chuckled at that one too.
Nice job Politico, I see this being the RW talking point at least until Wednesday when Obama might order Sherbet instead of Ice Cream.
