We're supposed to believe Sarah Palin is a tough no holds barred spitfire who is willing to take on one of the scariest Washington insiders, Rahm Emanuel. He's the guy who swears. He's the guy who sends dead fish to people he doesn't like. He's the guy who stabs the table with a steak knife to make a point. Sounds like a tough cookie, doesn't he? Well he's got nothing on little Miss Moose Killer. She is going to tan his hide, you betchya.
Ok. We get it. She's tough. But here's what's wrong with that picture: If she's so fearless, why won't Palin take on Ann Coulter? Seriously. Here's why I ask...
You know how she took on Rahm over the "retard" comment?
Remember how she said:
"Just as we’d be appalled if any public figure of Rahm’s stature ever used the "N-word" or other such inappropriate language, Rahm’s slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking."
Why so silent when Ann Coulter made a point of making racially offensive comments, mocking women, and calling people "mentally retarded" all in the same column:
But as long as the nation is obsessed with historic milestones, is no one going to remark on what a great country it is where a mentally retarded woman can become speaker of the house?
This was no slip of the tongue. That was no momentary indiscretion off-camera. She wrote that line, edited it, thought about it, then published it in a nationally syndicated column. What got Ann all hot and bothered last year?
As Obama prepared to deliver his address to Congress on Tuesday, the Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner, Fox News' Bret Baier and Charles Krauthammer all gushed that history was being made as the first African-American president appeared before Congress.
Which prompted Ann to go ballistic, toss her blonde locks and moan...
Are we going to have to hear about this for the next four years? Obama is becoming the Cal Ripken Jr. of presidents, making history every time he suits up for a game. Recently, Obama also became the first African-American president to order a ham sandwich late at night from the White House kitchen! That's going to get old pretty quick.
To show how ludicrous all the attention was, she chose to drive home the point by debasing Pelosi. Not for being the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House. No... the first mentally retarded woman.
But as long as the nation is obsessed with historic milestones, is no one going to remark on what a great country it is where a mentally retarded woman can become speaker of the house?
And that wasn't the onlly outrageous slur in that column.
Since Sarah is so opposed to anyone using the "N-word" what about racial put downs of other groups? What about Coulter's racist dig at Bobby Jindal?
Even Gov. Bobby Jindal, whom I suppose I should note was the first Indian-American to give the Republican response to a president's speech, began with an encomium to the first black president. (Wasn't Bobby great in "Slumdog Millionaire"?)
Wow. I guess it's ok to say all the Indians look alike. What's next? You have to explain that calling them Indians is ok, because these are real Indians...You know, the dot on the forehead kind, not the feather in the hair kind?
Now, you can't say "bygones" and ignore this. But Sarah's child was already born when Coulter wrote that column. Palin had already gotten a lot of mileage out of her courage for choosing to keep the baby -- a precious little creature, who no one would ever dare consider just another campaign prop. Yet there is Ann Coulter, using "mentally retarded" as an epithet and openly mocking millions of people who achieve great things in spite of disabilities. And where is Sarah, the pit bull? Does she call her out? Does she stand up for her family? Does she take on this Right-Wing Rock Star?
No. She puts her tail between her legs and slinks off to a corner for some quiet time. Interesting. Notice how you have NEVER seen them appear together? What is it about Coulter that scares Palin so much?
Inquiring minds want to know!
