I simply cannot fathom why this diary made the RECC list? It is disgraceful that 33 million americans WHO HAVE NO DAMN HEALTHCARE are being trashed by this diarist WHO IS PERFECTLY WILLING THAT THEY CONTINUE TO BE WITHOUT HEALTH CARE! I am disgusted that this nonsense made the recc list. I have never trashed a diary like this in all the years I have been on the dailykos. I just wish the diarist would go to REDSTATE.com. I am sure her/his views would be very welcome there. More rant below the fold.
Donna Brazille and the unions said they will go after any DEM who does not support this bill with a primary opponent. I absolutely support this. The Social Security Act of 1935 was not perfect in its first iteration. This kind of complex social legislation takes time to be tweaked. The Canadian and French healthcare systems have taken decades to be molded. I encourage everyone to HIDE this diary.
Maybe we ought to follow the lead of Tarantino's latest film Inglorious Bastards and [henna] tattoo "PIE IN THE SKY DEM.I HELPED DENY 33 MILLION HEALTH CARE" on the forehead of this diarist, Dennis Kucinich, and on every DEM Rep or Senator who has voted against this bill should this bill go down to defeat.Sorry for the rant. Just wish it had not made the RECC list. That was absolute crap. I expect this crap from Repugs. Not DEMS.
UPDATE: My, my. Went to get some cookies and milk and came back to this! Hard to believe my little outrage led to this rec list - wasn't even my intention. It has never happened. I wasn't even going to write the diary and thought someone else might have, but then again....I'm glad I did. I'm currently writing a book and have been researching some of the new social legislation that was enacted in the 30s as the country was still in the midst of the depression. Our times are slightly similar but unemployment was 20.1% in 1935. No sweeping legislation was ever perfect the first time out. Thanks kos community.
UPDATE: If this HC bill dies - DEMS lose the HOUSE (maybe the Senate)- they can't govern. Boehner, Cantor and Bachman will be in charge and on TV every day. Obama will be thwarted at every pass since he then can't get his bills on the House agenda. It will be a disaster. Why would you go out and vote DEM if they can't even pass a half ass HC bill with their majority? I sure wouldn't. It could be another 15 years to get this many DEMS back in the House. We've done the PIE (FOR OVER A YEAR)! The public, ALL OF US are EXHAUSTED, let's EAT some of it dammit!!
UPDATE: My analogy to Inglorious Bastards was certainly not meant to incite violence. I do not support violence whatsoever. It was made symbolically (it is a movie afterall) to indicate that people who support killing the bill should (in the unreal world) be forced to disclose to those who DO NOT have health insurance, that they were against them getting health care at this time, at least with this bill. That's all. My apologies if taken otherwise.
Final update: First time on Rec List. Up till 3am reading it and went to bed when I hit 1,000 comments. What did I leard from this experience (my 6th diary)?: 1) being on the rec list is like being in poltics or being a manager - not everyone likes you; 2) innocent analogy can be taken literally (be careful);3) some kos commentors abhor "go to red state stuff"; 4) left wing progressives or "progressive progressives" or "Naderisque Progressives"- I'm not sure what to call them (they constitute a good number) still believe in their principle over choosing to govern. It's like voting for Nader or Kucinich for Prez. Neither can ever win but still, they get voters; and LAST 5) don't take the nasty comments personal. I just wrote a little reactionary diary out of irriation with another diary at the top of the REC list. I first only made a comment on the other diary and then thought my little comment would just get lost. Oh, and Michael Moore on Countdown (or was it Rachel - sleep deprived here) really irritated the hell out of me. So yes, I would write my diary exactly the same way, with a little better grammar (and indicate Tarantino, like a dream, should never be literally re-enacted).
