So, the latest idiocy I'm hearing from the goalpost-moving birther morons is that, now that it's been established (for the 3,000th time) that Obama was, indeed, born in Hawaii, that somehow he still isn't eligible because his father wasn't born in the U.S.
Well, it occurred to me that the same can be said of several other Presidents--namely, the first batch of them, none of whose parents were U.S. Citizens when their son was born, seeing how there was no United States of America when they were born.
But then I realized the chilling, and no doubt history-changing truth: The same is true OF THOSE SAME PRESIDENTS!
That's right, you read it here first:
TEN OF OUR PRESIDENTS WERE NOT NATIVE-BORN U.S. CITIZENS!!
The Constitution of the United States was ratified on June 21, 1788. Until that date, there was no United States of America in existence.
Which means that the following Presidents were--gasp--FRAUDS!!
George Washington (born February 22, 1732)
John Adams (born October 30, 1735)
Thomas Jefferson (born April 13, 1743)
James Madison (born March 16, 1751)
James Monroe (born April 28, 1758)
Andrew Jackson (born March 15, 1767)
John Quincy Adams (born July 11, 1767)
William Henry Harrison (born February 9, 1773)
Martin Van Buren (December 5, 1782) (see update below)
Zachary Taylor (born November 24, 1784) see update below
OK, yes, I know, the grandfather clause in the Constitution gives an exception for them, but the Birthers have been very, VERY clear that they are NOT willing to accept ANY excuses or mitigating circumstances, period. Plus, seeing how there's absolutely NO MENTION of anything about a Presidents' parents in the Constitution whatsoever, I have to conclude that the Birthers can't read the document, so they couldn't possibly know about the grandfather clause anyway.
Having said that, if you did include any President who had one or both parents not born in the U.S., I'd imagine you'd have to add on at least another half-dozen Presidents from the early days, and quite possibly another parent or two since then.
Meaning that by the Birthers' own idiotic, brain-dead rules, at least 1/3 of our Presidents have been KENYAN MOOSLIM SOCIALIST NAZIS!!! AIEEEEEEE!!!
Update: As noted by JLan below:
if you want to date the U.S. from 1776 (with the Declaration of Independence, which does use the phrase "united States of America"), then Van Buren and Taylor drop off your list. And it's recognized in 1783, so Taylor should drop off because of that, as well. Yes, the current Constitution wasn't passed, but constitutions aren't typically the way you measure a country's existence, unless, for example, France prior to 1958 was not Fran
