Now granted, I'm a Liberal, Progressive, Independent, crotchety, curmudgeonly Grandmother whose been around for awhile. But the shell game being played by you should be obvious to anyone with the awareness of a slug. The President's poll numbers shoot up after the elimination of bin Laden and what do YOU do Mr. Boehner? You decide to play chicken with the economy. Boehner demands trillions in cuts in exchange for debt vote
The morning cup of tea was still brewing, when I saw the Morning News shows all a twitter about your upping the "must reduce the deficit" ante. That much hubris is hard to take at any time, but especially before the caffeine has started easing through the blood stream.
Apparently, you want to show that you're TOUGH. Yes sir, you can stick to your guns, you betcha. What has a dangerously crumbling infrastructure got to do with anything? Or an economy that's been slowly creeping back from the edge of the abyss? An economic melt down, by the way, that Republican policies created. Tax cuts for the wealthy few, the costs of an illegal war that was kept off the books, dismantling regulations. You voted for all that. Remember?
Do you remember our troops and their families Mr. Boehner? They're exhausted and hurting. Women who saw their husbands go off to war are now seeing their children do the same. The strain on our sons and daughters in Afghanistan is showing Mr. Boehner. Repeated deployments come with a cost. Costs you've never paid attention too.
And yet, NOW we're supposed to take your sudden concern for the fiscal health of our nation seriously? Suddenly, our children's and grandchildren's future matters? This was released by your press office on April 13th.
After a meeting at the White House today, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said the budget outlined by Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) has “set the bar” in terms of addressing our spending-driven, job-crushing debt crisis. Chairman Ryan’s Path to Prosperity budget will help spur job creation without raising taxes, stop spending money we don’t have, and lift the crushing burden of debt that threatens our children’s future.

O really? And why didn't their futures matter when you insisted on the Bush Tax Cuts? Why didn't their futures matter when they were sent to Iraq? They're the ones who are paying and will pay. When our bridges and dams collapse, our water treatment plants fail, and our energy grid can't keep up with demand, they're the ones who will bear the costs.
I'm not buying it Mr. Boehner. Not any of it. Your timing is, to say the least, suspect, coming as it does, on the heels of last Sunday's events and the rise in poll numbers for the President. You're indulging in posturing and pandering for political gain. The contrast between you and the President could not be clearer. He was willing to risk his own political future to get the job done, to do the right thing. It's something he does repeatedly. That placing of our country's well being first, seems to be something you are constitutionally incapable of understanding. You're not rising to the occasion yet again Mr. Boehner. And I still haven't had my morning tea.
