One of the important features of Blue Street Prophets is the coffee hour. This is an open thread intended to generate a safe feeling of community.
Welcome to Twosday Teatime (also known as the Coffee Hour for those who prefer the other drink). This is an open forum to discuss about whatever is on your mind or what’s going on in your life.
Today’s topic: being a tourist, or seeing the world through tourist eyes.
Being a tourist doesn’t require travel to exotic, far away locations. It is just a matter of looking at the world through different eyes.
I live in a tourist area. Many of the locals ignore the scenery because they live with it. When you see it every day, it tends to become background rather than foreground. From time to time, I ask myself “why should the tourists have all the fun?” I try to look at the local scenery through tourist eyes, to be able to see the exotic, the beautiful, and the wonderful in everyday scenery.
Looking at my everyday life through the eyes of a tourist, I am able to see new things: not just the snowcapped mountains, the forests, the animals, the lakes and rivers, but also the newness of relationships. Being a tourist means taking time to look at the good around me. It allows me to focus on that which is wonderful in relationships with people, things, and nature.
So what is beautiful, exotic, exciting, and wonderful in your everyday life?
