Not much of a diary, but since it was in the Elections diary on the FP, I may as well post something that actually qualifies as "BREAKING!"
Cynthia Dill won the State Senate District 7 race today -- by a vote total of 5,056 to 2,405.
This is of interest largely because six months ago, this same race went to a recount which was won by her predecessor, Democrat Lawrence Bliss, by about fifty votes once the recount was over.
I'd like to note that Cynthia is one of those Democrats who, you know, actually sounds like a Democrat. She pushed a bill that would allow us to recall elected officials (like our irritating governor). And she won 68%-32%. Proof that, once again, Democrats who actually act like Democrats win.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a shot across the bow at our State Legislature and Governor LePage -- keep acting foolish, and this will happen to you all in 2012. The Republicans barely lost this seat last time -- this time, they got shelled. Have a nice day, GOP.
