I am sad to say a parliamentary maneuver finally overcame Democrat's efforts to keep the disastrous amendment from leaving the Texas Senate attached to a budget bill, and so now we are very likely to see (barring a convulsion of reason in the Republican Party) approval of licensed concealed-carry permits for students at Texas college campuses.

While I would love to delve into how sad and worried this law makes me, I have to finish grading my student's work tonight.
We finish Final Assessment Week this Friday.
I trust my students' capacity for critical thinking than that of the hired ideologues of the oligarchy at many of our State legislatures, so, please, think of my students and their future (who oppose this law overwhelmingly, as did our Texas college administrators and law enforcement), and avoid bashing good Texans.
Instead, please offer me some kind advice if you live in a similar situation now--I am not leaving Texas to the wolves, so please don't tell me this is a great time to purchase airplane tickets to Portland!
I'll understand if this request to keep Texas bashing concealed might leave my short diary with few comments other than some understandable commiseration.
Or is there still a political path to blocking this legislation? Let me hear from you, expert Kossacks!
