On Monday, Frontier Airlines announced that they would cut 450 Milwaukee area employees as a part of service reductions out of Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee.
Huh, what do you know about that. Another 450 jobs leaving the state of Wisconsin. I have lost count now on how many jobs Scott Walker's administration has chased out of the state. I guess that being "Open for Business" and having business friendly, but citizen hostile, tax policies isn't such a good idea after all.
The real reason that these jobs are disappearing from Wisconsin is really pretty simple to see. Businesses need an educated workforce. Walker and his minions have slashed education budgets for not only K-12 education but for higher education as well. As a matter of fact, the University of Wisconsin is looking down the barrel of another $7 million cut.
What business in its right mind would move to a state or even stay in a state that is so openly hostile to education? As stated earlier, the businesses of today require an educated workforce and they should be required to pay for that educated workforce through fair and progressive taxation. Of course with the Republican party's "Laser Focus" on jobs in Wisconsin, where they are defining what a bicycle is, they unfortunately cannot see that they are the ones killing jobs (perhaps the laser is so powerful it is blinding the Republicans).
Maybe a better slogan for Wisconsin right now would be, "Closed for remodeling, will reopen soon when under new management."
