the love and gratitude I have for you people. I was really reluctant to pass the cyber hat here. Mainly because i know most people here are struggling to provide for their own families during this depression/recession/downturn/whathaveyou.
Which is why I feel compelled to report I dropped the ball keeping track of all of your generous donations. I have thanked all those I received gifts from. after reading Aji's diary and all the comments, I realized there were donations missing.
Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. Transition Projects Inc has had trouble before regarding people's mail, including mine. They are on their third postmaster since last June. I feel, when you pass the cyber hat and ask people for help, you also take on the responsabliity of ensuring the money you're asking for is used for the purpose in which it is intended.
I do plan on tracking the fedex I should've received Friday, March 2. The Fedex truck arrived just as i was leaving to go to the apartment. I know the person who signed for it. All fedex mail sits behind the main desk until the mailman comes in around 3pm and takes it into the mail room to distribute to the agency's clients I'm embarassed to ask but, in order to honor anyone who sent a gift, I ask that you let me know, either in comments or PM the specifics so i can take the information to the Mgr of the agency and hopefully, find out what happened.
I also feel this is necessary in order to make everyone comfortable about donating to other kossacks in need. About my own situation, follow me past the orange cloud...
I'm in my apartment. My rent is paid for by a local agency getting homeless people off the streets. I have Food Stamps and know where to obtain food boxes if needed. As much as I love you guys for sending me cash, I have a request. Stop. Please. My rent, which is zero, is based on the fact that i have no income and when that changes, even for a one-time-only gift, it creates a problem for me as i have to report it. Next month, I don't know if they will ask me to begin paying a percentage of my rent based on the money i now have to report. However, I do have needs. I need people to send me any spare household goods, clothes (size 16 pants/X-Large tops) anthing you were going to sell at a garage sale, i could use. Or if i have enough, I would like permission to distribute to the other residents. I still need:
1-2 10-12in. skillet with lid
1 3-5 Qt pot
1-2 cookie sheets
Measuring Cups and Spoons
Potholders
Toaster
Tea Kettle
Sm Coffee maker (4 cup)
Sm Garbage Can (for kitchen)
Step Ladder
Broom and Dustpan
Sm Vaccum (it's a tiny apartment)
Mop
Rolling Pin
Large Ceramic Bowl, not just for mixing, but for salads in Summer
Wooden Spoon
Scraper- For scraping excess brownie mix out of bowl
Loaf Pan -pyrex or not
Lasagne/Brownie/Cornbread pan- pyrex or not 8x8? 10x10? 8x11?
Muffin Pan or two
Cutting Boards- one wooden, one plastic
Steak Knives
1-2 good cutting knives for de-boning, vegtables, etc
Rubber thingie to help open jars, you know what I'm talking about?
4 glasses
2 cups-coffee
2 plates
4 bowls- for soup
4 small plates - salad or dessert or a piece of toast in the morning
forks, knives, spoons, i have two of each but a few more would be nice.
Dish Pan and now i can't think of the name- the water catcher under dish rack
Dish Rack
Pillows-2 sleeping, not accent
any clothes in size 16-18 pants or large to Xlarge tops, sweaters, blouses
I think that's about it.
Unfortunately, I will home most of the day today (monday) because i woke up this morning to find my radient heater (the old fashioned kind) is leaking. I'm waiting for the repairman to return. He is going to have to shut down the entire system and fix my little heater. Great, cold windy day in Portland, moved in one week and the whole building will soon know my name. And they ain't gonna be muttering "welcome" under their breath. :( (gulp)
You guys rock. Thanks. D'oh. Headslap. My new address is:
