It's a beautiful day with temperatures well above normal. It looks like this warm spell will be here for the foreseeable future, with nothing below the mid 40's forecast for the next ten days. It looks like Mother Nature has been fooled into thinking Spring is here. Take a look below the squiggle for some of today's Spring-like sightings.
I noticed a pair of Kestrels checking out the salt shed at work this morning. We had a pair nest there last year. I'm not sure when they first got there, but the first picture I took, when the chicks were very young, was May 23rd. You can see pictures of last years chicks here.
I'm also starting to see more insect life. Today I saw a Stink Bug. Not sure what kind, but I checked BugGuide and they have no record of Stink Bugs in Nebraska earlier than April. I also saw a Velvet Ant mimic Checkered Beetle similar to this one. I guess I am going to have to start taking my camera to work.
