A short diary - I am just so angry I needed to vent and this is my space to do so. I just did a search and don't think this has been shared here. Because words fail to adequately describe I will just post it without further comment.
I ended up searching for these images after seeing a friend post a picture of a car with the second bumper sticker on Facebook. It made me see red and I wanted to know if someone was selling these or if this was just something an individual had made in his basement and slapped on his vehicle.
I find it disheartening to say the least. It's 2012. And while I have been enjoying the antics of the Republican party self-destructing and getting irate about the war against women (while still thinking it's a good thing for Democrats in an election year), I've lost sight of the big picture.
Quite simply, we need Obama to win. I've been taking that for granted, but that's dangerous. While the right has put forward a series of buffoons this year, each tripping over themselves to make a bigger fool of themselves, we can't be complacent. I have generally been feeling positive about November, but this bumper sticker shocked me back into place. It doesn't matter how big of an idiot they run against Obama. No matter how certain victory seems I have to remember Bush II won twice, Palin was wildly popular, and there are people who I must unfortunately call my countrymen out there driving around with this bummer sticker on their car.
While nothing we can do is likely to change the mind of anyone who would appreciate this bumper sticker, there is a lot we can do to make sure that everyone of us gets out and votes. We can afford to slack with our support of GOTV efforts because our guy's the incumbent or because the opposition seems like a joke. The asshole who made this and the asshole who bought it just succeeded it lighting my fire again. How's yours?
