Wow - what a wild weather day here in SE Michigan!
Normally we have one of the safest states in the country in terms of events of this kind. And after having the mildest winter I can ever remember in my 67 years here, this is really a shock.
Some of the most serious damage was in the town of Dexter, just west of Ann Arbor where several businesses were damaged and a subdivision of large 2-story newer homes was devastated. Fortunately, there were no injuries. There is lots of tree damage and downed power lines. Rain was so intense there are reports of 3-4 feet of water on some roads and highways. Near the Big House, downed power lines caused a fire and firefighters are having a time getting to it due to the water on the roads.
The hail storm was amazing - at my house it was golf ball sized but there were reports of hail in Ann Arbor reaching ping pong or egg sized. Now it is dead calm and not a breath of wind.... very scary stuff folks!
