As thousands are going to theaters to see the powerful film Bully, we're once again cruelly reminded of the effects bullying can have on a child. Kenneth James Weishuhn of Primghar, Iowa, took his own life on Saturday, April 14. According to a report, he had recently come out as gay and was bullied relentlessly. He was fourteen.
A Facebook memorial page has been set up. The New Civil Rights Movement notes that Kenneth had a Pinterest page with a section entitled "When I get married (:" Another section features "It Gets Better" images, along with the following quote from Glee star Chris Colfer:
There’s nothing wrong with you. There’s a lot wrong with the world you live in.
Kenneth added:
"I hope so."
This is going to be a short diary, because not much else needs to be said. My heart breaks for this boy and others like him (I was once there myself). I don't think I can take any more of these stories.
Follow me below the fold for a tribute video put together in memory of Kenneth.
