Thursday, May 16th is the 101st anniversary of the birth of iconic Chicagoan Studs Terkel. What better reason for us to get together and celebrate Studs and the work he did in this city in his wonderful life?
The gathering will begin at ~6pm at Pegasus Restaurant and Taverna in Chicago's Greek Town. There will surely be some ouzo to go with your saganaki and/or dolmades. Dinner will follow at 7p.
I will be sporting some of Studs trademark items of clothing and it would be great if I wasn't alone in that. How hard would it be to wear red socks, anyway? Or maybe a red-and-white checked shirt? An unlit stogie?
Gathering together with fellow Chicago Kossacks is a joy in itself. But this one will be special. Studs, swag, door prizes .... I have two copies of Studs's last book Hope Dies Last that YOU have a chance to win. There will be even more that you won't want to miss.
