It is astounding to me that we have been enjoying 7 years of sharing recipes, cooking, and community here at the Great Orange Satan. Wow! It is no surprise to me that a political website dedicated to "electing more and better Democrats" is also home to many foodies and talented cooks/chefs as well. Tonight I hope you will join us at our virtual "table" to share some memories and enjoy our shared love of food.
Let's take a little jaunt backwards in time and revisit WFDs past. . .
The first diary to use the tag "what's for dinner" was posted on Tue. July 4th, 2006.
Fourth of July - What's For Dinner Tonight?
This was followed by the first official use in the title as we have become accustomed to:
What's for Dinner? Episode 1.1
And from that point on we saw regular Saturday postings of WFD by various dedicated posters.
My introduction to the series was through the postings of Asinus Asinum Fricat aka Patric Juillet. It was in the summer of 2006 when I became a regular reader and occasional commenter. His recipes, stories, and knowledge drew me back time and time again.
Now, some interesting factoids from our history:
The most recommended WFD diaries:
What's for Dinner. . .Crockpot Cookery 214 Recs
What's for Dinner: An American Indian Feast 195 Recs
What's for Dinner: The World of Garlic 191 Recs
The most prolific authors of WFD diaries:
Cordelia Lear, Asinus Asinum Fricat, blueoregon, Kate Petersen, and our dear departed Translator.
Tonight, instead of posting recipes I'd like to open the floor up to all of you to share your memories of WFD.
How did you first come to WFD?
What is your favorite diary?
What would you like to see in future diaries?
And, of course, what's for dinner at your place tonight?
So, pull up your chair, pour a frosty cold beverage and leave the woes and worries of life at the door.
And don't forget that we need volunteers for future diaries!
