Jim DeMint trying to shove his former colleagues over the cliff.
Former Sen. Jim DeMint is
creating as many headaches for his former colleagues as he did when he was in the Senate.
Former senator Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said in an interview broadcast Tuesday that congressional Republicans who oppose the Defund Obamacare effort “should be replaced.”
“I’m not as interested in the political futures of folks who think they might lose a showdown with the president,” DeMint said at a Monday town hall hosted by Heritage Action, the political arm of the Heritage Foundation, which DeMint leads.
DeMint later told NPR: “I think (President Obama) knows that Republicans are afraid, and if they are, they need to be replaced.”
Here's how deluded DeMint is: when an audience member suggested it wasn't very likely that President Obama would sign a bill that defunded his signature law, DeMint answered “Well we don’t know that, do we?” Well, yes, we do know pretty much know that. It's not going to happen. It's no more likely to happen than to have 41 Republican senators or even House GOP leadership sign onto the teabaggers' political suicide pact to shut down government.
But, hey, you go Jim DeMint. You raise a lot of money to primary those Republican senators you want kicked out. You find the most extreme challengers you can, and we'll see how that works out for you in 2014.
