Here is a note that has been found posted in some neighborhoods in Portland, Oregon.
Dear Reader of This Note,
There is an intersection between those people who vote and those people who receive public assistance. There are nineteen people in this neighborhood who vote and receive cash disability payments. The names of these people are being posted where they can be seen by taxpayers and the neighborhood can decide who is truly disabled. Benjamin Franklin said "when the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic." Some of us in the neighborhood wish to save this democracy and to stand in the way of those who would destroy it.
Artemis of the wildland
A flier targeting Portland’s disabled residents is being posted across the city, Portland’s Office of Equity and Human Rights confirmed today. The office has found fliers in the Laurelhurst, Irving and Southeast Belmont areas, and The Oregonian has confirmed postings in Eliot, as well.
The most recent flier -- signed by the anonymous “Artemis of the Wild” -- promises to reveal the names of 16 people in the Laurelhurst neighborhood who vote and receive disability payments. "The names of these people are being posted where they can be seen by taxpayers and the neighborhood can decide who is truly disabled," it reads.
“The tone of the note has underlying notes of violence,” said Jeff Selby, a spokesman for the office of equity and human rights. “If someone threatens to post your name, that just seems to us like vigilantism. It’s very threatening and that’s what bothers us.
So doctors and the crushing Social Security system that lets many disabled go penniless for nearly a decade isn't sufficient to show a disability? The fact that the disabled vote is indicative that they only do it for the money?
If anyone else has seen this sort of tripe or knows of the source please post it in the comments.
