As reported by Buzzfeed, the Obama administration will soon release details about a website dedicated to making the NSA's bulk surveillance methods more transparent and accessible.
While details about the website will be released next week by the administration, a screenshot of the website has been leaked to the press:
In describing this website, an Obama administration official
told reporters the website:
... will serve as the hub for further transparency, so this can be a home for citizens who are interested in learning more about our activities and declassifying efforts in responding to queries that people have about these programs.
The website will reportedly address concerns about the secret FISA court as well as the legal rationalizations for using Section 215 of the Patriot Act to engage in Fourth Amendment violations. It site will also reveal various warrantless spying techniques used by NSA and FBI officials.
According to a White House official, the website has been inspired by the President's desire to engage American citizens in an "ongoing national debate and dialogue...about our intelligence community and, in particular, our surveillance programs."
Time will tell if this website will, indeed, spark such debates and dialogues.
