A federal district judge's decision striking down Pennsylvania's same-sex marriage ban will stand, as Republican Gov. Tom Corbett
is not appealing:
Corbett's decision goes against his political beliefs. He opposes same-sex marriage and supported thus-far unsuccessful efforts to amend the state constitution to ban gay marriage.
But he says an appeal would be "extremely unlikely to succeed."
That's true, and also this:

You could call the moment a GOP governor in a tight reelection race decided not to fight a marriage equality ruling the moment of victory.

Whatever reason played most strongly in Corbett's decision, this is a moment of celebration as well as victory, as couples across Pennsylvania won't have to wait or wonder if their state will recognize their marriages.
