WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and share advice, pootie pictures, favorite adult beverages, and anything else that we think might help. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
A couple of weeks ago I met up with my sisters and father to celebrate his 90th birthday. He still is very sharp mentally and gets around pretty good (he needs a cane however). He reminds me a lot of the guy in the movie "UP".
So what's the F***ing problem? The aging process is hitting my family, myself, and my nation. More to come if you follow me past the orange thingie...
Born in 1955, this was an optimistic and egalitarian nation where we all believed the USA should be a role model to all others. We went thru a youth-orientated social revolution and saw incredible social and economic changes, with everything moving faster and faster.
As I head toward retirement I see a USA tied up by corporate interests who are determined to not upset the apple cart (for some) and that has no problem with destroying the stability of the planet's climate, that is willing to maintain a low-employment status quo just so long as certain vested interests continue be economically satisfied.
In my personal life my mom passed on a few years back with the cruel disease of Alzheimer's and my sister died a few months earlier from cancer.
So my FP is pessimism due to the inevitable aging process (although myself and my family is more fortunate than many others) and pessimism about the downward spiral of a once great nation.
What's your f***ing problem?
