Happy Thanksgiving Everyone — I hope my fellow Kossacks will still have things to be thankful for during this dim and dreadful time.
Popular vote: first I will stipulate that Hillary has lost the electoral vote which means losing the election.
I say that upfront because often when people write about the difference in the popular vote, someone jumps in and says it doesn’t matter because:
1) it doesn’t change the outcome
2) it’s all California so who cares.
Well, 1) I know it doesn’t change the outcome; and 2) The fact that California is our most populous state and voted overwhelmingly for Hillary does matter. (I will never understand why people say it doesn’t, that CA doesn’t count. And I’m not a Californian!).
Finally, the most updated numbers:

She won the popular vote by 2.1 million votes and counting.
And at this point, she won by 1.6% and growing — a very respectable win.
This will be one of the topics at our table of 33 people (which we actually do tomorrow for various reasons) along with discussion about the the unconscionable treatment of Dakota Access Pipeline protesters, the fight against racism (my older daughter is getting very involved in SURJ — Showing Up for Racial Justice and has been telling us a lot about that) and the fight against Trump’s neo-Nazi supporters and right wing appointments including: the fight to protect immigrants, the fight to protect and expand women’s reproductive rights, the fight against antiMuslim, antisemitism and homophobia.
