I haven’t seen anybody in the media give thought to why the Greens might want to promote a recount. My brother has an interesting theory about the Jill Stein effort on the recount. But nobody, not even the wise folks or media is giving ANY thought to the Green strategy here. There’s been a lot of speculation about the recount. And most of it seems mired in an old school thought of one party against another without a thought that anything else but a Dem vs. Republican strategy could be at play.
Nate Silver himself said “Not saying this Jill Stein thing is a scam, but if it were a scam, it would probably look a lot like this.”
There’s not even a thought that there’s a Green strategy at play here for power and influence beyond just Cash.
But if one backs out of the binary Dem v Republican thought process for just a moment and considers that the Green Party has aspirations as a national party, it all starts to make a lot of strategic sense for the Greens.
Jill Stein, in asking for a recount, is giving action to the pissed off liberals who want to fight the injustice and the shitty election results.
That gives Stein and the Green Party name recognition and street cred as fighting the power at a critical time. The Greens need to move from 2% of the vote to 5% of the vote to get Federal funding for a Presidential election. Stein just needs to scoop up another 3% to make her party a national party.
This recount has nothing to do with Dems V Republicans, Clinton V Trump……….it has everything to do with vacuuming up name recognition and votes for the Green party. Why did Clinton jump into this effort even though the White House is officially against it?
One theory is that it’s an attempt to mute Stein’s name recognition for the effort.
I think we’re seeing in the Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania recount a very calculated and intelligent move on the part of the Green Party to give action to pissed liberals and scoop up name and party recognition so the Green Party can reach 5%.
Any notion that the Green Party and the Dems are working in concert I think underestimates the Green Party’s drive to become a national party.
Just my brother’s theory. And it’s an interesting one.
