Received this e-mail today from Watchdog.net:
The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement is a corporate trade and investment deal that would ship U.S. jobs overseas, undermine efforts to address climate change, undercut Wall Street reform, and raise drug prices. It is opposed by the labor movement, almost all environmental groups, and access-to-medicine groups like Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
But one VERY powerful Democrat in Congress still supports it:
Tell Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee, to oppose the TPP.
Only 28 House Democrats broke with the base of the Democratic Party when they voted for "fast track" legislation to enable the TPP to be completed. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was one of them.
Both candidates for the Democratic nomination for President, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, oppose the TPP.
Tell Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz to oppose the TPP.
As a leader of the Democratic Party, Debbie Wasserman Schultz should join Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in opposing the TPP, and should pledge now to vote against the agreement in Congress. Her high-profile opposition would be a game-changer in ensuring that the agreement never passes Congress.
The Democratic Party needs to stand for social justice and environmentalism -- not for multinational corporations that only care about their own bottom lines.
Tell Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee, to oppose the TPP.
