This morning, we have yet another story of police brutality in America making the news— this time at REACH! Partnership school in Baltimore, Maryland, as a Black cop slaps and kicks around a student repeatedly in somewhat of a Ben Fields-esque manner without any provocation whatsoever.
Arturo Garcia at The Raw Story:
According to WBAL-TV, the incident shown in the footage took place on Tuesday morning at the REACH! Partnership school, where the officer is assigned. The student who filmed the encounter said that the officer was striking a classmate.
“I was totally appalled at what I saw today,” said the district’s chief school supports officer, Karl Perry. “I am a parent and I am totally appalled by what I saw in that video. No matter what the circumstances are, I am totally appalled.”
The officer and a colleague seen witnessing the incident but not intervening were placed on administrative leave, as was school Police Chief Marshall Goodwin, while it is under investigation.
Tim Prudente at Baltimore Sun:
Foster said school officials were made aware of the video late Tuesday afternoon. The video is four seconds, and circumstances before the filming remain unknown.
An officer in uniform is shown slapping a young man three times and kicking him once.
[...]
Identities of the officer and young man remain unknown. The video was filmed by another young man, who is not identified.
WMAR:
A video sent to ABC2 shows an officer hitting and kicking a student at REACH! Partnership School in Baltimore City.
A Baltimore City Schools official confirmed that the incident occurred at a Baltimore City school. Edie House-Foster said that the incident is "appalling and unacceptable." The incident will be under "vigorous investigation."
Video of incident in question:
Evidence shows at no point the student was the instigator or retaliated back during the approximately 5 second video, thus ruling that the officer’s actions are NOT justified at all.
Watch the #BlueLivesMatter/police apologist/#TCOT crowd likely attempt to justify the police officer’s ignorant actions.
