Received this e-mail today from former Lt. Governor Patty Judge’s (D. IA) U.S. Senate campaign:
Friend,
I got into this race to bring change to Iowa, and most importantly, to help working families.
One of the most serious issues facing families is the lack of access to paid leave when they welcome a new baby or when a close relative falls seriously ill. Did you know that fewer than one in seven private-sector workers has access to paid leave for family caregiving needs?
It’s no wonder too many families can’t manage their caregiving responsibilities, and even go bankrupt after a child is born or someone has a health crisis. We need to do better. We must support families that do the important work of caregiving.
Will you stand with me for paid family and medical leave for all Americans?
This should be a no-brainer -- workers need to be able to meet their health and family needs while maintaining their economic security. If I’m elected to the Senate, this is something I pledge to take on and win.
Say you’re with me for paid family and medical leave.
Thank you,
Patty
