Trump’s support in Franklin County (Columbus) Ohio in the recent Republican primary was very low towards the center and north of the county and higher in the white working class and middle class suburbs.
Trump support was low in the wealthy Republican suburb of Upper Arlington, liberal professional suburbs Marble Cliff and Grandview heights, Clintonville and German Village neighborhoods, Short North, University District, Worthington and Bexley.
The highest Trump support is shown above on the south and west side of town, historically high Appalachia migrant neighborhoods. The area jutting up along the center is along Parsons Avenue, which is billed as “Gateway to the South,” very apt both figuratively and literally. The high concentration at the east of the figure is Whitehall, another mostly white working/middle class area.
The northeast quadrant above shows additional high Trump support notably in the working class Linden neighborhood. That neighborhood is mixed but of course most blacks would have voted in the Democratic primary.
For comparison, here’s the map of Sanders support in the Democratic primary:
Sanders strength in shown in green, Clinton’s in purple.
