Though it looked as if Donald Trump had narrowed his candidates for vice-president down to the precious few who would be seen with him, he apparently tumbled to another possibility in the last few days. Unfortunately, it looks like the new potential White House Apprentice may exit the theater before ever getting on stage. His crime? Being reasonable on a single subject.
Retired Lt. Gen Michael T. Flynn, who most recently served as the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, is being vetted as a last-minute addition to Trump's pool of possible vice presidential picks, NBC News confirms.
But that was before Flynn gave this definitive, hard-hitting statement.
"Abortion, I think it's a, I think for women, and these are difficult issues, but I think women have to be able to choose," Flynn said, when asked whether he believed in a woman's right to an abortion.
Wait. He actually fumbled into the idea that women should have a degree of control over their own lives and their own bodies? Well, he’s definitely out.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List, said in a statement that Flynn's comments were disqualifying.
There you go. The modern Republican Party requires that you be all crazy, all the time. And in the year of Trump, it’s required that a vice-president be crazy in just the right way. And that’s a shame, because Flynn is so clearly crazy in other ways that Republicans love.
But he made his views clear on the tensions between law enforcement and the Black Lives Matter movement, calling Hillary Clinton's speech earlier this week "totally irresponsible," suggesting that the presumptive Democratic nominee said "white people are to blame."
Yeah. That’s just what she said—if you were wearing your Trump-brand, made in China, secret Clinton language decoder.

Wait! It appears that Flynn may be a good fit for Team Trump after all. He’s demonstrating astounding position change ability.
Now if he could just reach the point where he can change his position in the same sentence.
