For the life of me I can't understand why the press is incapable of understanding why the email story reveals nothing other than a poor decision. Perhaps I am missing something. So I'm going to lay out the facts as I understand them and would appreciate this community letting me know what, if anything, I am missing
As I understand it out of the 30,000 emails that were sent to the secretaries private server, three were marked with an invonspicuous letter C somewhere in the body of the email. Those were the only three emails that could be classified as containing confidential information.
It is also my understanding that per the policy manual used by the State Department, all classified communications where to be clearly indicated as such beginning with a banner at the head of the communication. This included all emails. None of those three emails had the required clear notice at the beginning of the communication.
Furthermore, the State Department issued a statement the day after the Director of the FBI made his public report indicating that two of those three emails had been declassified prior to their transmission to Secretary Clinton. The logical inference would be that the banner heading had been removed since the information is no longer classified, and that the inconspicuous designation contained in the body of the email was overlooked. If that is the case, then we're down to one email at best.
What this would indicate is that the Secretary’s public statements were absolutely truthful to the best of her knowledge. And may have been technically accurate as well if the third email had also been declassified.
Given these facts, it should be obvious that Secretary Clinton is and has been completely upfront about her use of the private server. By refusing to look at the facts objectively, the media is really applying a draconian standard to her use of the private server. Please let me know if I missing anything?
I do think that Secretary Clinton has failed to explain satisfactorily why she felt the need to have a private server set up in the first place. I realize the FBI director indicated that it was for convenience. It is apparent to me that she did her best to make the server security she could. And unlike the Sate Departmemt, her server was never hacked. But I do think a full explanation as to why she felt it was necessary as well as connecting the dots for the media would go along way towards finally burrying this issue.
