There are three things in the world that deserve no mercy: Hypocrisy, Fraud and Tyranny.” (Frederick W. Robertson)
In one week Donald J. Trump will be installed into the highest office of our land. The potential consequences of his leading our country are not just frightening, but a threat to our very lives.
The disturbing findings by 11 U.S. Intelligence agencies, as well as this week’s blockbuster report released by BuzzFeed News, create severe unease about the integrity of November’s entire election. Moreover, they make us ask again with more urgency, what is this man’s unrelenting need to be the ardent and passionate defender of Vladimir Putin and all things Russian? What underlies his 100% praise, support and defense of this autocrat?
If there was any lingering doubt about Trump’s unfitness, Wednesday’s fake press conference erased them.
Was it Trump’s grandiosity repeating “Only I”...or his appalling treatment of CNN’s Jim Acosta?...Was it the Props-empty manila folders..or his by now predictable canned litany of lies? His need to have people cheer him even if he has to pay them?
Trump demonstrated not one quality of leadership. Rambling and increasingly erratic, spouting unconscionable, pernicious lies and personal attacks, Trump was frankly terrifying.
The psychiatric literature discusses people with a character disorder who react to any form of criticism with rage or contempt. They belittle others but lack humility and self-awareness. They can never admit a mistake. They blame others for their unhappiness. “It’s them, not me.”
It’s called NPD: Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Not sure? Here is the definition of Narcissistic Personality Disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V):
* Persons with this disorder may come across as conceited, boastful, or pretentious. They often monopolize conversations. They belittle or look down on people they perceive as inferior.
* They have trouble handling any comments perceived as criticism. They are thin-skinned due to secret feelings of insecurity, shame, vulnerability, and humiliation. They will react to any form of criticism with rage or contempt, and try to belittle the other person.
Specifically:
* Having an exaggerated sense of self-importance
* Expecting to be recognized as superior, even without achievements that would warrant it
* Exaggerating achievements and talents
* Believing that they are superior
* Requiring constant admiration
* Having a sense of entitlement
* Expecting special favors and unquestioning compliance
* Taking advantage of others to get what they want
* Having an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others * Being envious of others and believing others envy them
Sound familiar?
-—Trump is incapable of feeling compassion and empathy.
He mocks the physically challenged, a grieving Bronze Star family, anyone, in fact, who criticizes him.
-—He believes himself to be superior to all and demands unquestioning compliance.
He mocks and blames all others for his mistakes and failures. Moreover, according to documents Trump has filed over 3500 lawsuits during his business career. When judgments are not rendered in his favor, he launches personal attacks against all including judges!
—He is unrepentantly arrogant in his fact-free pronouncements
On the critical issues of domestic and foreign policies and the future of the American people, he has failed to provide one coherent well-thought out policy relying on stock phrases and glib retorts.
—He possesses a hypocritical sense of entitlement.
He spreads “fake news” such as birther lies, qualifying it by saying the he’s not sure if it’s true or not, “but they’re saying it out there.” When BuzzFeed News and CNN released the intelligence reports, however, with the qualification that the findings need to be verified, he tantrums and rages then refuses to take the CNN reporter’s question, because CNN is now “fake news.”
—He expects to be treated as the BEST in ALL things
“I have words, the BEST words!”
—He demonstrates grandiosity —a sustained view of oneself as better than others
At his press conference: “I could actually run my business and run government at the same time. I don't like the way that looks, but I would be able to do that, if I wanted to. I would be the only one that would be able to do that.” At the GOP convention, discussing the problems facing America, he said, “I alone can fix it.”
This Narcissist blames others for his long-standing history of crass and unethical and sometimes illegal actions, as well as anyone who dares question him. His attacks on the press, the fourth estate, is a direct threat to the vital role of a Free Press. He refuses to profess trust in our country’s legal process, the rule of law, and the investigatory competence of U.S. intelligence agencies. He entitles himself instead. His Twitter Tantrums have become legendary in their hyperbolic defensiveness (and misspellings).
How does this personality disorder threaten the security of our country? People who have this pathology are more likely to bend rules and laws about legal and appropriate behavior. They explain them away, profess outrage, self-righteousness, and false nobility. It’s not just lying when being caught red-handed. They never take personal responsibility because it would threaten their over-inflated sense of self and result in a severe blow to one’s self-esteem. When confronted the strategy is to attack and demean the accusers.
Do not let all these issues distract from the most important one. Has Trump committed Treason? What is his true relationship with Putin, Russian Banks & Oligarchs?
The Constitutional term High Crimes applies to “high persons, that is, to public officials, those who, because of their official status, are under special obligations that ordinary persons are not under, and which could not be meaningfully applied or justly punished if committed by ordinary persons.”
Of course a simple answer would begin with Trump releasing his Tax Returns so Americans could know exactly who he is beholden to financially. Americans have not received even one answer since November 8. With a week before his installation as POTUS, Americans deserve to know the truth.
Only after completely thorough and independent series of investigations is completed should Donald Trump be allowed to be called Mr. President.
As Stephen Colbert asked of him the other night, “Prove your loyalty to the USA and say one negative thing about Putin or Russia. One criticism?”
America is waiting Mr. Trump!
