White House press secretary Sean Spicer has repeatedly exhibited a loose association with the facts, but his assertion Tuesday that popular vote loser Donald Trump is “very comfortable with his win” in the 2016 election is among the biggest yet. No, it can’t necessarily be proven untrue—but c’mon. The guy is obsessed with his complete fabrication of epic-sized voter fraud, revisiting the claim Monday with lawmakers on the Hill.
Two people familiar with the meeting said Trump spent about 10 minutes at the start of the bipartisan gathering rehashing the campaign. He also told them that between 3 million and 5 million illegal votes caused him to lose the popular vote.
Then there’s this:
Trump just can’t let the crowd sizes go. Spicer even admitted that the inaugural crowd comparisons and other coverage were “demoralizing.” Trump’s poor little fragile ego—maybe he just needs a change of perspective.
On the bright side, he has totally united people, inspiring millions to join what may have been the largest protest in American history. And for the record, Spicer has spent a significant portion of every press conference he’s given defending Trump’s legitimacy. Nothing says “comfortable” like that.
