Received this e-mail today from Georgia House Minority Leader Stacey Abrams’ (D. GA) gubernatorial campaign:
Friend –
Last week, in an act of sabotage, Trump used his executive pen to end the Affordable Care Act subsidies that help Georgia families afford health insurance.
Let’s be clear: Trump is punishing the American people for his failed attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act – and his reckless actions will increase health insurance premiums for families across Georgia.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates that Trump’s actions will increase premiums by at least 20% in 2018 and 25% by 2020. In Georgia, premiums could go up 50% by next year.
Worse yet, the GOP-controlled Congress still has not reauthorized funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), putting 9 million American children – including children who are served by Peach Care here in Georgia – at immediate risk.
This cannot stand. Trump and Republicans in Washington must be held responsible for purposely undermining our health care system and leaving tens of millions of Americans – usually the sickest, poorest and most vulnerable among us – worse off.
Now more than ever, as millions of children and working families are at risk of losing health care, elections matter – and together, our voices have power.
I hope you will add your name to stand up for what’s right today:
Thank you,
Stacey
