Received this e-mail today from the Council for a Livable World:
Randy Bryce can be the giant killer of the 2018 campaign, taking on Speaker Paul Ryan in Wisconsin, a tough task but one for which he already has a lot of support. House Speakers rarely lose, but Ryan, has become increasingly unpopular and out of touch with his district.
Ryan and other hawkish leaders have rigged House procedures to prevent progressive national security amendments from coming up, including an amendment to limit President Trump’s war-making authority.
Please help defeat Speaker Ryan and other national security conservatives who opposed the Iran nuclear agreement and advocate for expanded Pentagon waste without accountability.
Bryce isn’t the only person hoping to unseat unpopular incumbents. Jason Crow is running against Rep. Mike Coffman (R) in Colorado’s 6th district, while Josh Harder faces incumbent Rep. Jeff Denham (R) in California’s 10th district. Joe Neguse is running for the open 2nd district in Colorado.
Bryce is a U.S. Army veteran, cancer survivor, and union ironworker who has broad appeal in his district. He currently serves as President of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and as Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Veterans Caucus. Polls already show him very close to Speaker Ryan.
Crow is a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since leaving the Army, Crow has been an outspoken supporter of progressive national security policies, and represented the Truman National Security Project as a firm supporter of the Iran nuclear agreement.
Harder, a venture capitalist, says, “Diplomacy is the most effective tool in our arsenal. I support engagement before military action.”
Neguse is the son of refugees from Eritrea, and has risen high in state governmental positions. He strongly supports the Iran nuclear agreement and backs smart, effective reductions in Pentagon spending.
These four races are critical for winning back the House for progressive national security. Will you help these candidates win their seats?
Thank you for helping us bring a new group of national security progressives to the House.
Sincerely,
John Tierney
