Nancy Pelosi has fought tooth and nail to stop the GOP’s onslaught on the American people. Today, before the House vote, she gave a speech laying out just how cruel this bill is. It’s not that we don’t know that already. But she explains it well, and we need to make sure this goes viral.
“This GOP tax scam is simply theft — monumental, brazen theft from the American middle class and from every person who aspires to reach it.”
I’ve been scouting around for some reporting on Democratic responses to the tax vote in the House, and found this on The Hill of all places. On this terrible day, I think it’s important to amplify dissent as much as we possibly can.
After the vote, she sent out two tweets:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) slammed her Republican colleagues for cheering after the House passed the GOP tax bill Tuesday afternoon.
“There are few things more disturbing than hearing the swell of cheers from the House GOP as they raise taxes on 86 million middle class families,” Pelosi tweeted, adding the hashtag #GOPTaxScam.
In a second tweet, Pelosi wrote that it was shameful for the GOP to cheer at the bill’s passage.
“Shamefully, Republicans were cheering against the children as they rob from their future and ransack the middle class to reward the rich,” she tweeted.
(The tweets and a video of her speech are accessible through The Hill’s coverage — I don’t want to clip more than I should from the site).
We need to share the Democratic voices as they protest this terrible vote. I imagine there will be many more this evening in the Senate. It’s a very low point in the very low Trump presidency, and we can’t let them get away with this highway robbery of future generations in silence.

Thanks for the recs. Please share additional Democratic responses in your comments. Also check out AKALib's diary which is a great roundup of responses so far. This needs to be a primal yell. It's such a violation of the peoples' will - and of common sense. And all for personal gain, for greed. Unconsionable.
