Why was Comey fired?
Days before he was fired, James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director, asked the Justice Department for a significant increase in money and personnel for the bureau’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election, according to three officials with knowledge of his request.
Why was Comey fired?
Federal prosecutors have issued grand jury subpoenas … The subpoenas represent the first sign of a significant escalation of activity in the FBI's broader investigation begun last July into possible ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia.
Why was Comey fired?
Comey, when asked if he was aware of collusion between Trump associates and Russia, beyond the findings of the report: "It's not something I can comment on."
For the investigation of Iran-Contra, the Senate had 181 staffers. The Senate had 46 full-time staffers ginning up reasons for more hearings on Hillary Clinton and Benghazi. For Trump–Russia, there are 7—none of them are assigned to the task full time. That’s how not seriously the Senate is taking the investigation of not just Trump’s connection to Russia, but the entire Russian involvement in the election. With Devin Nunes wrecking the process on the House side, it’s clear that the FBI investigation is the only real investigation of the affair.
When the subpoenas came out and Comey asked for an expansion of the investigation, he was fired. If there is no FBI investigation into Russian involvement in our election, there is no investigation into Russian involvement in our election.
