Received this e-mail today from education-leadership professor, David Garcia’s (D. AZ) gubernatorial campaign:
BREAKING NEWS: For the last 72 hours teachers and parents have been imploring Doug Ducey and state legislators to fund a 4 percent raise for our teachers.
This morning we got Ducey’s reply - a big fat NO.
Instead, legislators are voting right now for more tax cuts, leaving even less money for public education in future years.
We’ve had 20 years of the same strategy - first cut taxes for corporations and the wealthy, then cut education funding.
What has it gotten us? Literally the worst teacher pay in the country, and 10,000 classrooms without a full-time, qualified teacher.
How much longer can our schools survive? How long must parents wait for a system that encourages our best teachers to stay?
¡Ya basta! We can’t wait any longer.
Call your legislator to tell them to vote NO on Doug Ducey’s budget that takes us backward.
Then join my campaign to make education a real priority, not a political talking point.
I’m David Garcia, and I’m running for Governor because our schools need help now!
Adelante,
