The LeMay Family Collection of about 1,900 antique and vintage automobiles has been recognized as the world’s largest automobile collection. About 500 vehicles from this collection are on display at the Marymount Event Center (a former Catholic Military Academy) in Tacoma, Washington. When the Marymount Military Academy was still active, the Orphan Room was a covered outdoor play area for the young boys to play ball games and other athletic activities. Harold LeMay used the area to store some of his “orphan” cars—that is, makes and models which are no longer in production. In the United States, there have been more than 3,000 automobile manufacturers.
