The Southern Poverty Law Center has for years now exposed the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s (FAIR) ties to white supremacists, anti-Semites, and Holocaust deniers, but that still didn’t seem to make the Phoenix Park Hotel think twice about hosting the hate group’s annual “Hold Their Feet to the Fire” event at its Washington, D.C. location today.
While FAIR has been more emboldened than ever thanks to Donald Trump—“Getting out of bed these days is a lot more fun than it used to be. I’m having the time of my life,” the group’s leader just said—the hate group was trying to quietly gather at the DC hotel this week. After recently finding out about the event, immigrant and civil rights activists called on the business to not support hate groups, but the Phoenix Park Hotel ignored them. Cash over common decency, apparently.
So, since the business refused to reconsider hosting FAIR, leaders from Mijente, Undocublack, and Get Equal decided to help the Phoenix Park Hotel “welcome” event guests:
America’s Voice:
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), is designated by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group. FAIR, along with NumbersUSA and the Center for Immigration Studies and other groups, constitutes a long-existing network of racist, extremist organizations which have blamed immigrants for everything from climate change to the recession. A number of former officials from these organizations now work inside the Trump Administration. “Hold Their Feet to the Fire” is FAIR’s annual event which gins up radio listeners about “illegals” while promoting white supremacist ideas, not-so-veiled racism, and hate.
