Image if the driver of that life-crushing car was Muslim …
WHAT would Donald Trump’s reaction have been then?
We’d still be hearing him rail about Extremist Islamic Terror — and how it must be halted.
So what’s the difference now? Terror is Terror; Extreme Hate is still Hate — no matter its source.
The difference now is that the agents of this Terror are right out of Trump’s base.
The difference now is that Trump has tacitly encouraged these White Nationalists over the years: first with his own Birther campaign; next with his own concessions to Nationalist principles; and then again, by elevating persons from the Alt-Right movement to important positions in his Administration.
Meanwhile, with Trump’s travel-bans based on country of origin and ethnicity and religion — Trump is enforcing the principles of the White Nationalism and its goals for “ethnic purity”. While at the same time, trashing the “shining” principles of America, that have made our country the envy of the world — for our national goals of inclusion and diversity; for our historic welcoming arms to the “poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
Recently an official Trump agenda-promoter told us that, that shining principle, once synonymous with America — No longer applies.
Just like cold-hard facts such as these — No longer apply:
Most Terrorists in the U.S. Are Right Wing, Not Muslim: Report
[...]
A joint project by the Investigative Fund at the Nation Institute, a nonprofit media center, and Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting has found that within the past nine years, right-wing extremists plotted or carried out nearly twice as many terrorist attacks as Islamist extremists. Of the 115 right-wing incidents, police only foiled 35 percent. Compare this to the 63 Islamist terrorism cases, where police foiled 76 percent of the planned attacks.
Right-wing extremists were not only more successful, they were often more deadly, too. From 2008 to 2016, a third of right-wing attacks involved fatalities, compared to 13 percent of Islamist attacks. It should be noted, however, that Islamist extremists killed more people overall, with a death toll of 90 people compared to 79.
In a statement pointing out the higher rate of successful, right-wing terrorist attacks, the Investigative Fund said: “This project quantifies just how irrational Trump and the GOP's fixation on 'radical Islamic terrorism' as the greatest security threat is.”
[...]
Notice the date on the report — before the White Supremacist knife attack on Portland Light-rail, before the horrific events of Charlottesville, when a White Supremacist took hold of the weapons of ISIS — to create mass destruction here at home, and maximum terror among other Americans.
Obviously the GOP “fixation” on Islamic Terrorism, while at the same time failing to call the deadly acts of White Supremacists what they are — Domestic Terrorism — is not helping to protect the Victims of these Nationalist coddled-Thugs.
Quite the opposite is happening. Domestic forces of Hate, are only getting more emboldened, by Trump’s weak-tea ‘nod and wink’ to their ongoing aggression and hate methods ...
Welcome to Trump’s America.
The routine ignoring of Hate Group like this is Dangerous.
How many more Charlottesville will it take, before Trump calls out this Hate and Violence, for what it is — Un-American.
… Are those victims Victims of Domestic Terrorism — Not Americans too?
… entitled to the same protections, and the guarantee of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?
Why is it that only the forces White Nationalists are allowed to stake those claims?
Trump’s ‘coddling’ of such Hate Groups must end now — be they foreign or domestic in origin.
Just image if the driver of that life-crushing car was Muslim …
WHAT would Donald Trump’s reaction have been then?
Where is that reaction now?
