Did you like standardized tests in school?
○ YES ○ NO
Do you think teaching to a test accomplishes anything but proving students can memorize test subjects?

Do you spend your workdays filling in bubbles like this?
○ YES ○ NO
So why are Montana students spending so much of their time filling in bubbles on federally-mandated standardized tests? Why are teachers required to spend so much time teaching to these tests, instead of allowing them to determine what’s best for their students?
I don't know, either. But I intend to fix it.
I'm working to reduce the number of standardized tests Montana students are required to take. Add your name to join me.
I understand the importance of gauging student success. But more federally-mandated standardized tests in Montana schools are not the answer.
Children need to learn life skills in school. Critical thinking. Adaptability. How to analyze ideas. Teachers need the space to impart those skills. Requiring standardized tests every year isn't effective for students or teachers. They eat up valuable class time and waste taxpayer dollars.
School is just starting up again in Montana and across the country. Let's make sure our schools are making the best use of their time. Call for a reduction in the number of federally-mandated standardized tests.
Thanks,
Jon
