“Democrats are doing nothing for DACA,” Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. This is the man who ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, and whose party controls Congress and has not brought the matter to a vote in the nearly four months since he ended it. The tweet gets even less connected to reality from there:
State after state has sued the Trump administration over his decision to end DACA, and let’s just say those were not for the most part Republican-controlled states. Rhode Island’s Democratic governor announced a plan to pay the renewal fee of every DACA recipient in the state. The two members of Congress who were arrested protesting the end of DACA were Democrats.
Meanwhile, an 11-year-old pleaded with Congress not to deport her Dreamer mom and 22-year-old twin DACA recipients faced the deportation of both their parents. A 27-year-old father was detained while waiting to reapply for DACA. These are things Donald Trump and his people did. And Trump's mass deportation campaign gets even crueler, including following an ambulance to the hospital, detaining a 10-year-old with cerebral palsy, and denying her post-operative care.
But sure, “Hispanics will go hard against Dems, will start ‘falling in love’ with Republicans and their President!” Maybe that would go a little better for Republicans if the “RESULTS” Trump was getting here weren’t all about mass deportation, immigrant-bashing, and forcing people to live in fear.
