Exclusive to DailyKos — Colorado Secretary of State website shows 27,800 fewer registered voters in the City and County of Denver than the Denver Elections Division shows! Co-incidentally, the Secretary of State in Colorado is a Republican and Denver is one of the bluest counties in the state.
Date was taken from these websites:
Colorado Secretary of State: results.enr.clarityelections.com/... shows 386,518
Denver Elections Division: www.denvergov.org/… 414,318 (Click on the Ballot Return tab)
Hopefully, this is a ‘clerical’ error. However, 27,800 voters in Denver could find that their registrations have been deleted which could change election results in numerous races and ballot issues in Denver and Colorado.
This discrepancy is worrisome because both webpages indicate they were updated as of Nov 5, 2018! The SOS webpage even time stamps the data update at Nov 5, 2018 4:38pm. So the explanation that these sites are simply ‘out of sync’ doesn’t really fly. Something appears amiss that deserves explanation.
This problem has been reported to RockTheVote.org and to the Democratic Party hotline in Washington, DC. Both organizations indicated they would investigate further and took my contact info although neither organization wanted to know where this data can be viewed! It has also been reported to the Denver Election Division. The Denver Elections Division has responded and believes the discrepancy may be the result of the Secretary of State using data from September 2018. The rep from the Denver Elections Division indicated he would contact the SOS and see if they can get their data updated.
To recap, even though the Colorado Secretary of State (SOS) reports data to the public as updated on Nov 5, 2018, some of the data may actually be from September 2018! At this point we do not know if that is the explanation, but at a minimum, the Secretary of State is showing data that implies it is current when it is actually 2 months out of date! This is why it is important for the SOS to do their job! Obviously, the current occupant of the office does not regard data accuracy as an important element of informing the public regarding an election.

Acting on our query to the Denver Elections Division, the Colorado Secretary of State has updated one of their pages to reflect the latest voter registration tally for the City and County of Denver which is now 484,843 registrations. So that is great news in that the discrepancy is apparently the fault of the lackadaisical attitude of the Colorado Secretary of State regarding accurate election reporting rather than deleted voter registrations.
