Normally, every Smokey & Tiger update is a good news story, prefaced with “send no donations”, except for the last one that asked for help to cover Tiger’s echo-cardiogram, after the Vet found a heart murmur. She re-examined him when he was calmer to double check, and yes he has a heart murmur. She drew labs to check his cardiac enzymes -elevated, but not extreme. But, he has an abscessed tooth. Tiger couldn’t have general anesthesia until they saw exactly what was going on in his heart. So, MCS took him in for an echo-cardiogram. This was expensive ($626). Paid off -Thanks to generous Kossacks! Believe me, we really appreciate the help. (Purrs of thanks from the Tiger Man!) He’s been cleared for anesthesia.
Tiger needs oral surgery for an abscessed tooth. And we need financial help to do it. Problem is- Vet gave an estimate range of $559 to $771. So, we need to come up with way more than we can afford! (I’m on disability & MCS’s job closed.)
The infection in Tiger’s mouth, if left unchecked, could eventually cause infection in his already compromised heart, resulting in endocarditis — which is usually fatal. I really fear letting Tiger go under anesthesia, but he needs to- it will be an awful day. I worked in anesthesia before I got sick and I know the vet uses certain agents, but … I have preferred ones for people & “animuses”. (Must bite my tongue& let the vet be the doc.)
No matter what, I assure you, Tiger will not be neglected.
I knew they wouldn’t be “low maintenance” cats at their age, but once we saw their story, just couldn’t sit back and let the SPCA put them down or separate this very bonded pair.
They just lost Maureen, who hand-raised and bottle fed them. We are surprised that they are so relaxed, loving & have adjusted so well. They are happy here and enjoy having space to roam around in. And two humans who love them very much. Maybe they’re a bit different, since Maureen raised them & bottle fed them with so much love. We are very lucky to be their parents! And this is their forever home, as long as we & they draw breath.
Can any of daPeeps help The Tiger Man? Any help is appreciated.

Thank you all for following their story, helping us to adopt them before the SPCA put them down, transporting them, sending good karma & donations.
