Could we talk about the ‘National Monument to Hatred’?
Why do people call it a ‘wall?” — anything that big, that expensive, that devoted to construction against the overwhelming public opinion, and against the wishes of so many landowners along the border — anything like that should be properly called a national monument.
A national monument to:
Hatred,
Confused Blame of another nation for largely our own faults,
Blatant Racism in the guise of a political stance,
Crony Contract Spending by a building magnate known for bending every rule,
False Promises of protection, painted over with plaster,
Deep-seated fear of the future, and a willingness to smear an evil monument on top of it,
Noise — just noise to pretend like building something big is saying something big.
Corruption — almost half a nation’s power going along with such a thing.
Dismissal — that same portion of people casually dismissing the endless efforts of so many people for a small degree of emotional elation.
Cruelty — capping off the endless cruelty to Dreamers and other immigrants that our nation was largely built up to help, by throwing a giant waste of construction in their face.
Insults — trying to paint US-Mexico relationships for generations, by literally shoving a symbol of hatred that we all have to look at on both sides of the border, even when it is in ruins, or else have to pay to shove it somewhere like so much sewage.
Subservience to Putin — By painting that horror between nations, all mostly for the sake of giving a temporary boost to Putin’s momentary preferences.
Stupidity and Cheap Imitation — trying to call this a national wall, compared to China’s ancient monument (also largely symbolic), it’s an insult to everyone.
Failure — it will likely start going up in some deeply red state, and be forgotten after a thousand logistical barriers are hit. But it will still stand for generations, a profoundly expensive monument to hatred and everything else.
Where is the ‘liberal media’ on commenting on how overwhelmingly stupid this is? After all these years, there’s still nothing I’d count as a proper commentary on how, well, monumentally stupid it all is — even in the scope of the mountainous Trump idiocy.
