Disney CEO Robert Iger makes millions per year. But for Disneyland’s 30,000 employees, wages are so low that, in a recent survey, 1 in 10 employees reported recent homelessness, and two-thirds don’t have enough food to eat.
That’s why Bernie Sanders joined a rally of 2,000 Disneyland workers last week, saying “If a corporation like Disney has enough to pay its CEO over $400 million in a four-year period, it damn well has enough to pay its workers at least 15 bucks an hour.”
Damn right, Bernie! We are part of a coalition of allies who will deliver tens of thousands of petition signatures this week to Disney showing that Americans are standing with Bernie. Can you add your name?
Stand with Bernie. Sign the petition to Disney CEO Bob Iger demanding a living wage for all Disneyland employees.
Unions representing Disney workers are in heated contract negotiations right now. And Disney has shown that it may be willing to negotiate -- offering last week a $15 minimum wage in exchange for unacceptable changes to overtime pay.
A massive groundswell of solidarity from Americans nationwide will help these workers. Stand in solidarity with the Disney worker’s union and demand a fairer deal.
Over 90,000 Americans have signed. Crossing 100,000 signatures will spur even more interest in this petition.
Stand with Bernie. Sign the petition to Disney CEO Bob Iger demanding a living wage for all Disneyland employees.
The Los Angeles Times writes, “Over the last two decades or so, as Disney’s annual profit has soared, the company has secured subsidies, incentives, rebates and protections from future taxes in Anaheim that, in aggregate, would be worth more than $1 billion.”
This generous government treatment has helped Disney make a profit in 2017 of nearly $9 billion.
It’s time that Disneyland workers received their fair share for a hard day’s work. And a rising tide lifts all boats -- increasing wages at major employers like Disney will put pressure on all employers to raise their wages.
Stand with Bernie Sanders. Sign the petition to Disney's CEO demanding a living wage for his workers.
